‣ 7:50pm. april 20th. chaser gaunt was born. soon after chase, about two years later, knox gaunt was born and then two years after, was born abrielle gaunt. the children were raised to be respectful of all, though were taught that they did not need to be respectful of those who were dirty blooded- muggle borns and half bloods. half bloods weren’t as much as an issue compared to muggle borns though. he never agreed with such harassments and dislikings but once he got into hogwarts his opinions took a changing. the day of chases 11th birthday, he gained his letter to hogwarts. once arriving and being called up to the sorting hat he was quickly sorted into slytherin without any sort of doubt. fitting in at school was easy, he made his friends and he also made his enemies. when chase was thirteen years old, he and his younger sister, abrielle, who was eight, almost nine, at the time, had been playing a game of hide and seek. he practically raised his sister. she was his entire life at that point. they depended on each other, her especially regarding she barely got much attention and wasn’t praised as much as her elder siblings. chase had run into her father as he was searching for his younger sister while they played hide and seek, scolded almost immediately for playing ‘childish games’. abrielle was simply a child when she passed away from being crushed by a heavy wooded wardrobe. after that, he was never the same. nor was his father. his father accused chase of stealing and much more dreadful things, lying about him following in the dark lords path when that’s not at all what he was doing. he gave up the name chaser, asking friends to call him chase, damon or any other nickname. only family from then on out would call him chaser.༻༠ི teen years ∥ 13-17. ˊ˗
‣ chases father tried and tried to make the poor boy just like him. teaching him spells out side of school during the summer, more dark arts based and attacks. he didn’t like going against the rules of school but the more he did it, the more he enjoyed breaking the rules. he caused a lot of chaos in school, often getting detentions or forced to clean around on saturdays. in his sixth year, he fully caved into being a massive asshole. he was harassing others, making fun of others and even pulling little pranks with his group of friends. this was a difficult time regarding his literal 14 year old brother got the dark mark. what else was he supposed to think and feel? he hated his life at that point. chase felt frustrated that his brother got it, but perhaps it was just jealousy that his brother was taking bigger steps than he was and being more enjoyed by his father. chase felt like he was then nothing compared to knox. it wasn’t that he wanted the dark mark, he absolutely hated the idea of serving someone and killing for someone. if he were to kill, it would be for his own enjoyment not anyone else’s. he found himself falling into a habit of getting drunk every other night and smoking every time he got stressed out. luckily, his friends were able to fish him out of his alcohol abuse by the end of sixth year. he began treating even his family like absolute garbage, which he sort of felt bad for, but it was almost all he knew how to do. he was never taught how to love. in his seventh year, chase was the final gaunt to receive the dark mark, though this was fully against his will. his cousin, tom riddle, had forced it upon him when they had been hanging out. ever since then, he could never forgive himself or tom. he didn’t expect tom to end up this way, yet he should’ve. he learned more about himself in his fifth through seventh year of hogwarts than he ever thought he would. he realized he could speak to snakes if he’d wished, he realized he was capable of loving and being loved through one young woman in particular he had gone out with. she had decided to move on from him after learning he got the dark mark. it was rough for him to end his years at hogwarts, but he was glad he could then move on.༻༠ི adulthood ∥ 18 & onward... ˊ˗
‣ chase had eventually moved out of the gaunt manor right at age 18. he got himself a little flat in hogsmeade where he had officially owned a small coffee shop just down the stairs. he went from working in one to owning his own which he felt proud of. he never wore t-shirts again, though his dark mark had been fading slowly and he tended to keep it wrapped up with bandages if he wore t-shirts or tank tops. he didn’t speak with his family, aside from his mother and the rest on is history.
